This lovingly illustrated oracle deck is based on sea nymphs, known as Nereids in Greek mythology. The deck consists of 97 cards and a 57 page guidebook describing their corresponding divinatory symbols.
I created this project over the course of a decade, employing a distinctive style consistent in color, line, and interplay with negative space eliciting a sense of timelessness. Elegant figures flow with sinuous lines, manifestations of admonishment and prophecy. Each card depicts the delicately rendered sisters in powerful scenes immersed in blue sapphire tones, long tresses harmoniously intermingling with the waves.

Booklet Excerpt: In Greek legend, Nereids are singing women, weavers swimming amongst the dolphins. Crowned in red coral, they personify the ever-changing waves, bestowing protection to mariners and ocean travelers. Granddaughters of Tethys and the titan Oceanus, they are also daughters of Doris and Nereus, the Wise Old Man of the Sea. These water nymphs are ageless and infinite, like the stars. They are glittering muses, liberators, child-bearers, and protectors, the embodiment of compassion and benevolence, offering their divine wisdom to guide the seeker on their voyage.
Keto - Fear • The Eight Tentacles “Unimaginable terrors shall rise from the darkness.” Keto is the Nereid of Sea Monsters and possesses the power to control the waves. She is the daughter of Pontus and Gaia. This Nereid is the mother of the monstrous Gorgons, Echidna, and Ladon. She represents all that is dangerous about the sea. Her presence can represent the need to confront and overcome fears and obstacles, in addition to harnessing and directing one’s own emotional tides with control. Her appearance can also suggest the importance of being alert and aware of potential dangers as well as hidden threats. Keto helps the querent recognize danger and trust their intuition.
Kymothoe - Energy The Great Swell “I am the glorious, heaving breaker thrust forth relentlessly.” The Nereid of the swift waves represents moving forward to attain the realization of a goal. She manifests the qualities of tenacity and vitality and implementing these qualities in oneself. Kymothoe calls on the seeker to swim with the fast currents rather than fighting against them, gaining momentum to actualization.
